Toy Story IV

The Octonauts Explore The Great Big Ocean In the beginning Jai had a fascination for Octonauts. So we acquired every plastic figurine, ‘Gup‘, and related underwater construction.

Then he discovered Thomas the Tank Engine. For a while we had almost every available aluminium train in the series, most which magnetically connect end to end. That included a boat on a carriage and the fat-controller in his car, both non-magnetic!

A year ago Paw Patrol was spotted on ABC iView. Thanks to his grandmother every character is a stuffed toy in Jai’s bed AND she created a large Paw Patrol patterned pillow case. It is still his favourite and carries him off to dreams of firefighting dogs each night.

Dinosaur Bones ABC4Kids have a new show which has captured Jai’s vivid imagination.

Andy’s Historic Adventures.

It is fun to watch him make dinosaur bones out of duplo, a tall T-Rex with his teepee, and a Time Machine with a milk-crate and training-clock. I have also created Andy’s techno-tablet using plastic lid and stick-on velcro!

The only suffering we have to endure is involuntary coercion to be Museum staff!

To date there have been no AHA franchise toys and books added into toy collection. Whew.

I only hope our boys can part with all these toys when the the day comes. There’s only so much toys a house can hold and a parent can endure!

In Excess

”We will just buy a small gift.”

No, don’t.

Family and friends have been doing that for five years, and sometimes just because it looked good at the time or one boy touched it in store.

We now have an extensive library of toys and books. Being us, all are boxed and shelved so as to ease the declutter process each afternoon.

What I would prefer to hear, or what I dream of hearing:

We’ll drop a few dollars into their accounts.” Yes, each boy has one.

“We’ll donate a few dollars to your choice of charity in their name.” RFDS

Santa’s Surcharge

Embryos, Galaxies and Sentient Beings: How the Universe Makes LifeJai enjoyed his first Xmas. Now that his command and understanding of the world has become much more sentient, he wants Xmas every day. #facepalm

Every morning I am asked to pretend to be Santa Claus. This morning I changed the incoming response.

{In a husky deep voice}

Ho Ho Ho! Merry Xmas! … oh, I am at Jai’s house again! Young man, I have work to do at the North Pole. You can’t channel me on a whim. My callout fee between January and September will empty your piggy bank! So, whatever you need, go ask your mum!

Dad’s worldwide might want to #highfive me now. But I suspect Santa will be requested again tomorrow. #headsmack

In Memoriam

Jai received this movie as an early Xmas present last week for being so good one morning.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1998)

We’ve watched it together six times since!

Even though he has watched it so many times, he still has a little cry when Rudolph runs away because he is teased for having a red nose.

Interesting fact: The voice of Mrs Claus is the late Debbie Reynolds
